He Actually Did It—Alcaraz Used Our Sinner Game Plan to Win Roland Garros 🎾🔥

Alcaraz broke down Sinner using the exact tactics we talked about 4 years ago 👀

Hey Tennis Players!

Four years ago, I posted a video breaking down how I’d game-plan against Jannik Sinner—what patterns might actually work against a guy who can absolutely crush the ball off both sides.

Fast forward to this year’s French Open final: Carlos Alcaraz beat Sinner in an epic 5-set battle lasting over 5.5 hours… and he used a similar looking blueprint we talked about.

This was one of the highest-level clay court matches ever played. But if you were watching closely, the tactics were clear—and you can learn from them too.

🎯 What Alcaraz Did

Let’s break it down.

1. Stretch him wide to the forehand

Back in my video, I said:

“Sinner struggles on the run when you make him move out wide to his forehand.”

Carlos did exactly that—especially midway through the match.

He hit heavy, high-spinning balls deep and out wide to Sinner’s forehand side. Not flat, not fast—spinny. Why? Because it pulls Sinner off the court and forces him to generate pace on the run with his forehand, something even he can’t do consistently for five hours.

You could see it in the 4th & 5th set: Sinner started missing forehands on the stretch, spraying a few wide, leaving others short. That’s tactical fatigue.

2. Take away his time + keep him honest

Sinner’s rhythm is deadly. He stands tight to the baseline, loads up, and rips groundstrokes. Alcaraz didn’t let him do that for long stretches.

He mixed in:

  • Serve-and-volley

  • Short angles

  • Net approaches

  • Drop shots

Even when Carlos missed a few, it sent a message: “You don’t get to stand on the baseline and groove. Not today.”

That variety forces Sinner to reset constantly—and that alone can break a rhythm guy like him.

3. Don’t feed the machine

“If all else fails, give him junk.”

And guess what?

Carlos threw in forehand slices. Heavy topspin followed by sudden flat redirects. Drop shot-lob combos. It wasn’t always pretty—but it was effective.

That chaos kept Sinner guessing. And when a rhythm player doesn’t know what’s coming? Advantage you.

👀 What to Watch for (And Apply to Your Own Game)

If you’re a player or fan, the takeaway here is how to watch tennis with intent. These weren’t random highlight shots—there was a plan:

✅ Look for who’s initiating the wide patterns
✅ Watch the height and spin of the rally ball (not just pace)
✅ Note when one player starts missing “easy” shots—fatigue, or pressure from smart patterns?
✅ Watch how often a player resets position—not just how hard they hit

And if you’re playing someone like Sinner at your level (a clean ball striker who thrives on rhythm)? Steal this playbook. You don’t have to be Alcaraz to:

  • Mix up spin and height

  • Attack the run-around forehand

  • Take time away by stepping in or coming to net

  • Vary your serve direction and follow-ups

That match was a masterclass. But even better—it proved that the tactics we’ve been talking about actually work. At every level.

See you on the court,
Chris & Cade
