Hey Tennis Freaks!
Most club players waste their first session back.
They:
• hit for feel
• rally aimlessly
• serve a few balls
• leave thinking it was “solid”
It’s not.
That session sets the tone for everything that follows.
🧠 R — REP
The Common Mistake
When players come back after time off:
• they chase rhythm
• instead of building structure
So nothing actually improves.
🎯 A — ADJUSTMENT
What You Should Do Instead
Your first session back should do 2 things:
• assess where you are
• rebuild patterns immediately
Not just hit balls.

A Real First Session Plan
This is the exact 60-min session we mapped out for my next session on court as I plan my return to competitive tennis:
WARM-UP (15 min)
• Dynamic movement
• Short court → baseline progression
STROKES (20 min)
• Crosscourt patterns
• Serve reps (30 total)
• Serve +1
POINT PLAY (15 min)
• Backhand start points
• Controlled patterns
MOVE + RESET (10 min)
• Footwork
• Stretch
If you want to work on serve speed, watch how I trained to try and hit a 130 MPH serve

What We’re Seeing This Week
Cade is away coaching at U14 Nationals right now.
And it’s obvious:
👉 the players who improve fastest don’t guess
They show up with a plan.
They know:
• what they’re working on
• how they’re building points
• what success looks like that day

That applies way beyond tennis.
👉 Y — YOUR MOVE
Next time you hit:
Don’t just “play”
👉 show up with a plan
Even something this simple will put you ahead of most players.
This session above actually came from something we’ve been testing behind the scenes…
A tool that gives players:
• simple practice plans
• clear match advice
• no fluff, just what to do
We’ve got one player using it in a tournament this week and we are curious to see how it holds up under pressure.
If you want to try it yourself:
See ya next Friday,
Cade & Chris
